Orono Man Who Used Facebook to Lure Teen to Death Gets 60 Years

By Alanna Durkin, The Associated Press
BANGOR, Maine - A Maine man who lured a 15-year-old girl to her death with a fake Facebook profile is going to prison for 60 years.

The sentence was imposed Friday on 22-year-old Kyle Dube, of Orono, who was convicted of killing Nichole Cable. The judge imposed 60 years for murder and 30 years for kidnapping, to be served concurrently.

Prosecutors say Dube abducted Nichole to have sex with her. Police say Dube told others he'd intended to kidnap her and become a hero by rescuing her in May 2013.

She died from asphyxiation. Her body was found after an eight-day search.

The phony Facebook profile used to set up the meeting was traced to Dube's home, and DNA evidence pointed to him, as well. Several people also testified that Dube confessed.
