Defense Seeks Return Of Cellphones Found In Carrillo Home

BELFAST, Maine - A Maine woman charged in the fatal beating of her 10-year-old daughter wants prosecutors to return seven cellphones that her attorneys believe contain evidence that could exonerate her.The phones were found in April by Sharon Carrillo's father, who owns the Stockton Springs condominium where Marissa Kennedy was killed. He turned them over to the defense when he saw that one of the phones contained a photo of Marissa Kennedy on the day she died.

The Bangor Daily News reports that the defense gave the phones to law enforcement officials but now accuse them of inaction. They want them back to review the contents.

Sharon Carrillo's husband, Julio, has pleaded guilty. Sharon Carrillo contends she was abused by her husband and wants a judge to dismiss the charges against her.
