Interim Presidents Named at UMaine at Augusta, Fort Kent

AUGUSTA, Maine - The University of Maine System's top financial official is taking over as the interim president at the University of Maine at Augusta.

Rebecca Wyke has served as the system's vice chancellor of finance and administration for the past seven years.

At UMA, Wyke replaces another interim president, Glen Cummings, who takes over as head of the University of Southern Maine next month.

"The interim presidential appointments we announced today keeps proven, trusted leadership in place at our campuses," says Dan Demeritt, a spokesman for the UMaine System. "As the chancellor announced earlier in the year, we are going to maintain our seven campuses, led by seven presidents, across the state, to make sure we're focused on the regional needs of the communities those campuses serve."

The system also announced that John Murphy, the chief financial officer at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, will take over as that campus's interim president.

Searches for permanent leaders are underway at both UMaine-Augusta and the University of Maine at Fort Kent.
