BANGOR, Maine - A Maine Warden Service pilot has resigned after being charged earlier this month with assaulting a Bangor police officer during a country music concert.
Warden service spokesman Cpl. John MacDonald says 58-year-old Charles Later submitted his resignation Monday.
The Shirley man was arrested on Sept. 2 while attending a concert at Bangor's waterfront pavilion. Police say Later became combative after being asked to leave and he assaulted the officer.
Later was charged with assault on an officer, refusal to submit to arrest or detention, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. He was placed on paid leave last week.
It wasn't known if Later had a lawyer and a phone number couldn't be found for him.
