AUGUSTA, Maine - The Legislature's budget-writing Appropriations Committee has started public hearings on Gov. Paul LePage's two-year state budget. And this year, the budget is more than just funding state government programs - it includes a major tax-reform plan as outlined by Finance Commissioner Richard Rosen. "Gov. LePage's biennial budget proposes to aligtn Maine's tax system with the 21st century economy by making it more competitive, simple, stable and fair," Rosen said.
