AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine Republicans and Democrats are taking different approaches to their presidential caucuses next month.
The Maine GOP announced Tuesday that caucuses will be held at 22 regional sites on Saturday, March 5.
Democrats are holding local caucuses a day later on Sunday, March 6. Democrats expect caucuses to be held in hundreds of towns.
Jason Savage, GOP executive director, said all 23 of the delegates to the national convention will be apportioned based on the caucus tallies. Any candidate who wins more than 50 percent will win all delegates. If no one wins a majority, then they'll be divided up.
Maine Democrats will be sending 30 delegates to their national convention. The Democrats have five so-called superdelegates who are not bound by the outcome of the caucuses.
