Poliquin Announces Opposition to Trans Pacific Partnership Deal

AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine 2nd District Rep. Bruce Poliquin says he is opposing the controversial Trans Pacific Partnership trade deal between 11 Pacific Rim nations and the United States.

Poliquin says after reviewing the thousands of pages of the deal, he's concluded that it's bad for Maine.

"After months of careful and thorough analysis, I've concluded that the proposed TPP international trade agreement is not in the best interests of our 2nd District workers and their families," the Republican congressman says in a video statement.

Poliquin says he supports fair trade between nations but has concluded that the TPP deal is not fair. He says the deal was reached in secret and it has taken months to find out about its provisions.

Poliquin says it is clear to him that workers in Maine will be hurt if the deal goes through and he will oppose its ratification.
