Democrat Wins Vacant Seat In Maine House District 124

AUGUSTA, Maine - A Democrat will serve in a seat left vacant by a former lawmaker who's now the state's attorney general.Democratic Secretary of State Matt Dunlap said Joseph Perry Sr. won the House District 124 seat in a special election Tuesday.Perry, of Bangor, won with 719 votes, while his Republican contender Thomas White received 390 votes.Perry will serve through November 2020. The Legislature elected former Democratic Rep. Aaron Frey as attorney general on Dec. 5. Frey then declined to take the oath of office. In all, over 1,100 ballots were cast in the district, which includes parts of Bangor and Orono.
