 Maine Center for Economic Policy's Shepard Lee Lecture

  Bates College in Lewiston recently hosted a talk by Ai-jen Poo, Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. Her talk was entitled Organizing at the Speed of Love: Securing the Rights of Those Who Care for Loved Ones, and was a part of the Shepard Lee Lecture Series.

Ai-jen Poo is the Director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance. She has been organizing immigrant women workers since 1996, co-founding Domestic Workers United in 2006 and leading the successful effort to enact New York’s landmark Domestic Workers Bill of Rights in 2010. Ai-jen serves on the Boards of Directors of Momsrising, National Jobs with Justice, Working America, the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, and the National Council on Aging. She is the recipient of the Ms. Foundation Woman of Vision Award (2007), the Independent Sector American Express NGen Leadership Award (2011), the Newsweek 150 Fearless Women list (2012), and the Time 100 list (2012).
