Police Say Stab Wound Killed Former Deering High Student and Basketball Player

theforecaster.net

Police say Portland resident Patrick Lobor, who collapsed on the street after crashing his car into another this weekend, was killed by a stab wound.

On Saturday, 22-year-old Lobor drove his silver Toyota Corolla into another car, causing a three-car accident.

"Mr. Lobor was still impaled by the knife when he was found by first responders,” says Lt. Robert Martin.

The state's medical examiner has confirmed that the stab caused his death. Martin says investigators are confident there was no foul play, but he also would not say whether the stab wound was self-inflicted. He says several witnesses have come forward to describe details of the accident.

Lobor came from a family of Sudanese immigrants and was a well-known basketball star at Deering High School, where he graduated in 2014.

A Columbia University graduate, Fred began his journalism career as a print reporter in Vermont, then came to Maine Public in 2001 as its political reporter, as well as serving as a host for a variety of Maine Public Radio and Maine Public Television programs.
