Maine Country Singer Betty Cody Dies at 92

LEWISTON, Maine (AP) _ Country music singer and Maine Country Music Hall of Fame member Betty Cody has died.
 
    The Portland Press Herald reports Cody died in her Lewiston home on Tuesday. She was 92. Her son Denny Breau confirmed her death.
 
    Cody's discography includes more than 20 songs. Her career peaked in the early 1950s after music industry powerhouse RCA Records signed her to a contract.
 
    Her most successful songs include ``Tom Tom Yodel,'' ``Please Throw Away the Glass,'' and ``I Found Out More Than You Ever Knew.''
 
    Cody was born Rita Cote in Sherbrooke, Quebec, and moved to Auburn, Maine at nine months old. The Press Herald reports she learned to sing mostly in French from nuns at Catholic school.
 
    Cody's son Lenny Breau died in 1984 in California in a murder that remains unsolved.
