The issues affecting access to Maine Public Broadcasting Network's websites have been resolved.
Starting at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, visitors to mpbn.net and news.mpbn.net were redirected to an alternate site. MPBN worked throughout the day with its domain name registrar to remedy the problem. Public access to MPBN’s websites was restored later that evening.
"While our websites weren't technically down, they were unreachable and we hope that our Web users were not significantly impacted yesterday," says Mark Vogelzang, president and CEO of MPBN. "It's very important to note that the issue was with our domain service provider and not MPBN's website. No breach occurred in MPBN's systems. We have significant safeguards that are regularly assessed by our Web and engineering teams to ensure that our donor information is completely safe and secure."
MPBN's radio and television broadcasts and its Web streaming services were not affected, including regularly scheduled programming as well as the live production and statewide broadcast of Gov. Paul LePage's inaugural address on Wednesday from Augusta.
