WATERVILLE, Maine — Officials say improvements to the main runway at Robert LaFleur Municipal Airport are finished.
The Morning Sentinel reports airport manager Randy Marshall told the Waterville City Council on Tuesday that the project came in $300,000 under budget.
Marshall said the 5,500-foot long runway was repaved and 100 lights, 19 signs and navigational aides were also installed. He says the airport received $4.3 million from the Federal Aviation Administration. The improvements began May 2 and were completed on July 2.
Marshall says the FAA is allowing the airport to use the remaining money for other needs. Airport officials are proposing to build about a mile of fencing and install gates.
