June 16 is James Joyce’s birthday, and is celebrated worldwide as Bloomday. We pay homage to the wanderings of Leopold Bloom and other Dubliners through an ordinary summer day and night in 1904. Loosely based on Homer’s Odyssey, Joyce lovers traditionally start reading the 732 page Ulysses on June 16 until finished. On our first Belfast Bloomsday, we may not get that far, but please join us to listen or to read a chapter aloud. Beverages available. (Bloomsday poster from a Washington DC event)
