The Funeral Conquers Alliance of Maine is hosting a Death Café, and you're invited!
As part of our annual meeting weekend, FCA of Maine will host a Death Café event at the Wabanaki Public Health & Wellness facility in Bangor, ME.
At a Death Café, people—often strangers—gather to eat cake, drink tea, and talk about death. The goal is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives.'
Following established guidelines, the Death Café will have no specific agenda, objective, or theme. It’s simply an open forum intended to raise awareness and help normalize conversations about death and dying. First introduced in London in 2011, there are now about 18,900 death cafes in 90 countries.
A Death Café provides a respectful and confidential space for individuals interested in mortality to share perspectives, hear new ideas, engage in meaningful conversation, and contemplate important questions about this often-taboo topic.
If this concept piques your interest, we encourage you to join us. The conversations are fascinating!
