Town of Brooklin's Independence Day Celebration
The annual Brooklin Independence Day parade will kick off a day of food, fun, and tomfoolery on Tuesday, July 4.
The Brooklin Town Band will begin playing in front of Friend Memorial Public Library at 9:15 a.m.
The parade will begin at 10 a.m., forming as usual at the old Odd Fellows Hall at the top of Center Harbor Road. Floats, costumed marchers, bicycles, vintage and antique cars, horses and pageantry are welcome. Participants should plan to get in line by 9:30 a.m. To sign up for the parade, contact Mike Sealander at mike@sealanderarchitects.com or just show up. There is no entry fee.
Barbecued chicken, hot dogs, pulled pork, corn, coleslaw, potato salad, watermelon and drinks will be on the menu after the parade at the Town Green. Prizes will be awarded for the best parade costumes and floats.
There will be carnival games for children and the young at heart during the barbecue. Back again this year will be a greased pole climbing contest.
Volunteers are needed to help out with the barbecue and games. Inquire at BrooklinBBQ@gmail.com. Look for updates on the Brooklin Fourth Parade Facebook page.
