Join the Lewiston Public Library for Baby Storytime in-person in the Children’s Department weekly on Tuesdays from 10:15am to 11:15am.

Recommended for children ages 0 – 3 years old and their caregivers.

Enjoy an interactive storytime with your baby that includes early literacy fun with books, songs, rhymes and body movement. Play and social time immediately follow the program.

This program is free, open to the public, and no registration is required. Siblings are always welcome.

Ages 4 – 10 enjoy a performance of children’s stories followed by an interactive acting workshop with Portland Stage’s Education Artists for $15. Sign up for the month and save or pick individual days that work for you. Financial aid is available. Build literacy, encourage creativity and spark dramatic dreams!

Play Me a Story takes place in person at Portland Stage’s Theater for Kids on Saturday mornings from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM. Doors open at 10:00, 10:30 performance, followed by an interactive workshop from 11:00 AM – 11:45 AM, with everything wrapped up by 12:00 PM.

All books featured in Play Me a Story are presented with permission from the publishers and/or authors.

Join us at the Lewiston Public Library this winter for a monthly meeting of Genre Roulette: Romance Book Club! The Genre Roulette Book Club samples genres by focusing on one genre for three months at a time: join for one season or come to them all!
This winter, the book club will be focusing on Romance across three sub-genres. We will meet monthly in the Couture Room from 5:30 to 6:30pm on the following Thursdays: January 15th, February 19th, and March 19th

Free and open to the public. There will be a reception at 5 P.M. with good food and drinks. The lecture will begin at 6 P.M. All are welcome.

Topic
What happens when rules around Native identity — many of which were created by a US government intent on wiping out Native people altogether — inhibit Native people from creating successful, sustainable communities? In this lecture, Carrie Lowry Schuettpelz offers a brief history of Native tribal enrollment and identity, and how that history is still shaping Native America today.

Speaker Biography
Carrie Lowry Schuettpelz is an enrolled member of the Lumbee Tribe of North Carolina. She spent seven years working in the Obama Administration on issues of homelessness and Native policy. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She serves as an associate professor of public policy and directs the Native Policy Lab at the University of Iowa. Her lecture at UNE will be based on her first book, The Indian Card: Who Gets to Be Native in America.
