We’ve got Moxie…how ’bout you?! Moxie Day at Seashore has become a tradition over the years. Seashore will be hosting the New England Moxie Congress on Sunday, July 13th! They will be sharing FREE SAMPLES of Moxie and Diet Moxie with all guests. You’ll also see all kinds of Moxie memorabilia from their personal collections. You can get Moxie in a lot of different places but the merchandise is a little harder to come by. Not at Seashore though! Our Museum Store has lots of Moxie swag available for purchase all season long! So, if you are looking for a Moxie hat. T-shirt, sweatshirt or hoodie, we’ve got you covered.Supplies permitting we also plan to sell the real deal Moxie in glass bottles made with 100% pure cane sugar, in addition to regular Moxie, in our Museum Store.Developed in Maine and produced in New Hampshire, Moxie is “distinctively different” and legendary in the region. It is feared a bit by those who haven’t tried it because one of its signature ingredients is “gentian root”. On its own, it is very bitter. But, as a finished product, it is less harsh than a quality ginger ale. So, if you love it, come on by and revel in a day set aside for your favorite beverage. If you’ve never had it, give it a try!
The Lewiston Farmers' Market operates every Sunday, May through November, and will occur rain or shine. The Lewiston Farmers’ Market is proud to be able to offer community members farm fresh, local food and goods in a way that supports community well-being.
From July 3 through August 28, the Rockport Public Library will host a show of works by abstract artist Noah Stitt. The exhibit, “Heavy Light,” features paintings and sculpture exploring play, structure, and the medium of paint.
“Using humor, subtlety, and suspension, my work explores the boundary between the objective and subjective image,” says Stitt. “Scenes are set in which the viewer is left to decide for themselves how to interpret the slippage between the two. With a heavy material presence, these objects and images lend themselves to a narrative reading. I think of them as 'narrative abstractions’."
Noah Stitt holds an MFA in Studio Art from Hunter College, CUNY, where he also taught; a BFA from Montana State University (also in Studio Art); and participated in the Early College Program at Maine College of Art. He has worked at the Coastal Maine Art Workshops, High Street Gallery, and in an ice studio in Queens, New York. Among other venues, his work has been shown at Hunter College Gallery and online at Hauser & Wirth. After many years living in various parts of the country, Stitt now resides in his home state of Maine.

This class is an introduction to the fascinating and historied art of water marbling. Marbling is a process in which paints are floated on a liquid surface and worked into patterns using different methods and tools. The marbled pattern is then transferred to paper, fabric, or object. In the first half of the class, participants will begin by playing with different approaches to applying color and pattern to the marbling vat, trying out different tools, rakes, and a stylus to “paint” on the marbling liquid and create images. We will cover how to choose the correct materials and how to prepare them for the optimal marbling experience. Each participant will create a color palette and work in their own marbling vat, playing with pattern and color. These marbled designs will then be transferred onto high-quality fabric that can be used in the creation of future projects.
All materials and equipment will be provided.
