In this evening workshop, participants will learn about blending teas/tisanes for medicinal purposes. Learn from Emily Springer of Meeting House Farm – a MOFGA certified organic farm in Scarborough, Maine. This class will focus on the medicinal properties of a selection of herbs and how to combine them for maximum effect. Learn about herbs that support the respiratory system, digestive system, nervous system and immune system. Participants will taste a variety of herbal tisanes, and blend their own medicinal tisane to take home.
Blending Medicinal Herb Tisanes is co-hosted by MOFGA & The Ecology School.
Join us for a pop-up art exhibit, a lecture by the artist, and a reception with food and drink. This is a free event with parking available.
Dean McCrillis is Maine-based artist, curator and outdoorsman. Expanding on the principles learned as an amateur naturalist, his work explores elements of ecology and the relationship between wilderness and modernity. His paintings serve as a bridge between natural and personal history. He is the current resident artist at Cove Street Arts in Portland and has work on view at Greenhut Galleries and the L.C. Bates Museum.

In association with the 2026 Camden Conference, Today’s Middle East: Power, Politics & Players, please join PPL on December 11, 5:30 PM-7:00 PM, for the first event in our series, where we will get to hear from Fatima Saidi on displacement, immigration, and navigating identity.
Fatima Saidi’s specialty is storytelling. Drawing from her lived experience, she uses narrative as a powerful tool to advocate for policy change and help the public understand realities beyond their own. Through her work, she uplifts her community by validating their experiences and fostering empathy. Her storytelling builds bridges, creating solidarity with non-immigrant movements and shaping a more welcoming America where we all can thrive.
Use carving tools and wood-burning to create an owl ornament this December in a workshop at the Wendell Gilley Museum. The class is suitable for beginners but carvers of all levels are welcome. Participants will start with a pre-cut wooden blank, then shape and woodburn it. Students must be at least 12 years old.
The workshop will be offered twice: Saturday, Dec. 6 from noon to 3pm, and Thursday, Dec. 11 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. It will be led by Lynda Millar, who teaches woodburning, carving and papercutting at the Gilley. The cost is $32 for Museum members, and $39 for non-members. Class size is limited.

Gibbs Library in Washington, Maine, is excited to announce a free collage and card-making workshop with celebrated artist and award-winning teacher Argy Nestor. The workshop, Discover Your Superpower: Hand-made Cards, will be held in the Bryant Room on Thursday, December 11th, from 6-8pm. Registration is required. In this collage-art workshop, participants will use images and text from magazines, pages from discarded books, and even bits of junk mail to create cards that will delight family and friends. No experience is necessary! These make wonderful gifts! Though not a requirement, if you have photographs, magazines, or other papers you’d like to incorporate, bring them to class to use in your artistic creations.
Class size is limited. This is a FREE workshop, but registration is required (to prepare materials and provide snacks). This class will fill up quickly!
Argy Nestor has lived in Union since 1980. She taught middle school art in RSU #40 until 2006, then served at the Maine Department of Education and the Maine Arts Commission, supporting Maine’s 1,200 visual and performing arts educators. In 2019, she returned to the classroom to teach art and direct Sweetland Middle School in Hope. During her career Argy has been presented with many awards for her commitment to education. In 1995, she was named Maine Teacher of the Year. At the heart of her work in education and in the community is collaboration. She enjoys teaching and exhibiting her artwork.
