On ๐ข๐ฐ๐๐ผ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฎ๐ด๐๐ต, The Sunrise Rotary Club of Bath presents a special screening of ๐ฉ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐: ๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐ฏ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, a powerful documentary from Kane-Lewis Productions that sheds light on the human stories of homelessness, illuminating a path forward.
Homelessness is often misunderstood and unseen, yet it affects individuals and families in every community, including ours. Building Hope sheds light on the human stories behind the statistics, showing us that homelessness can happen to anyone, yet also that there is a path forward. Through deeply moving personal narratives, the film reveals not only the struggles of those without stable housing but also the resilience, dignity, and hope that persist in the face of hardship.
This event is more than just a film screeningโitโs a call to awareness and action. Following the film, there will be a panel discussion featuring representatives from local organizations such as Tedford Housing, Bath Housing, Midcoast Youth Center, and others working tirelessly to address homelessness in our region. Together, they will share insights, answer questions, and explore ways we can unite as a community to ensure everyone has a safe place to call home.
Nicknamed for the king of the Roman gods, Mozartโs iconic final symphony is full of striking drama and moments of musical perfection, regarded by many as among the greatest symphonies in classical music. Brilliant, expansive, and radiant with clarity, it channels complexity into grace, reconciling tension with poise.
This program opens with Missy Mazzoliโs Music for Orbiting Spheres: โmusic in the shape of a solar system.โ With pulsing rhythms and luminous textures, it evokes both the mystery and the inevitability of celestial motionโa sound world both mechanical and strangely human.
Bridging the span from cosmic to psychological is Barberโs Medeaโs Meditation and Dance of Vengeance. Based on Euripidesโ tragic heroine, the piece traces a descent from brooding stillness into violent release. Medeaโs fury feels at once mythic and disturbingly humanโan emotional orbit governed not by reason, but by primal urge and near-mechanical compulsion. Thereโs no redemption here, only the spiraling gravity of vengeance.
PROGRAM:
MISSY MAZZOLI Sinfonia (for Orbiting Spheres)
BARBER Medeaโs Meditation and Dance of Vengeance
MOZART Symphony No. 41 โJupiterโ
