Maine Wire Fraud Sentencing Unlikely Before 2015

BANGOR, Maine  — A Vermont man convicted of wire fraud for submitting false invoices to a Maine town will not likely be sentenced until next year.

A judge convicted Craig Sanborn, of Maidstone, in May. U.S. Attorney Gail Malone says Sanborn's sentencing date is likely to be set in December; it has been delayed at least twice.

Sanborn faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for submitting $300,000 worth of false invoices to Brownville, Maine, for materials and services he never bought.

Sanborn was also convicted in 2013 of two counts of negligent homicide and manslaughter in connection with a fatal explosion at a Colebrook, New Hampshire, gunpowder plant. He remains in custody.
