Cleanup Begins in Maine After Massive Snowstorm

AUGUSTA, Maine — Maine residents are beginning to clean up after a powerful snow storm dropped more than 2 feet of snow in some areas.

While the snow has tapered off, forecasters say strong winds on the coast will make for drifting and blowing snow on Wednesday. They say there could be more snow on the way on Friday.

The storm dumped more than a foot of snow on much of southern and central Maine on Tuesday, with some areas reporting more than 30 inches of snow.

Several schools will remain closed Wednesday, but some services will be back up and running.

Portland International Jetport says ticket counters will reopen and service will resume with the first arrival in the morning. Limited Downeaster train service between Brunswick and Boston will resume.
