CMH Board Voices Support For CEO After Hospitals Voted 'No Confidence'

The board of Central Maine Healthcare has affirmed its support of CEO Jeff Brickman after medical staff at its three member hospitals recently took no-confidence votes.

Chair Deborah Dunlap Avasthi issued an email to staff Wednesday, saying the board has also amended the organization's bylaws to allow medical staff to have a more active role in governance.

Specifically, the chiefs of staff at Central Maine Healthcare's Lewiston, Bridgton and Rumford hospitals will serve on the board, as will three physicians. The board is also establishing a joint commission to improve communication.

Jeff Brickman became CEO of the health care organization two years ago as it faced financial shortfalls.
