Officials with the Maine State Fire Marshal's office say a man found dead in his burned out car along Rt. 201 in Fairfield Saturday, died after setting himself on fire.
According to State Police Spokesman Steve McCausland, 61 year old William Wakefield of Skowhegan doused himself with gasoline and set himself alight. McCausland says Wakefield also called a friend saying he was going to kill himself.
Passing motorists reported the fire just before 10 am Saturday in a rest area along the road.
