Travel in Maine Returning to Normal as Airports Dig Out

PORTLAND, Maine - Maine's transportation grid is returning to normal as flights resume at the state's airports and snow plowing continues on its major roads.
A Portland International Jetport spokesman says there will be "some cancelations'' at the airport on Wednesday, but flight schedules are returning to normal. Domestic flights are also resuming at Bangor International Airport at 11:30 a.m. Officials at both airports advise that travelers check with their airlines.

A spokesman for the state Department of Transportation says road travel is "much improved'' and the state isn't issuing any advisories. The state ferry service canceled one trip on Wednesday morning but is otherwise back to normal. Amtrak Downeaster train service is also restored.

Portland, the state's largest city, will enforce a limited parking ban on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
