Maine State Police Warn Drivers Against Using Illegal Lights

PORTLAND, Maine - Maine State Police are warning drivers about using illegal lights on vehicles.

Police tell WGME-TV they've seen more drivers using white emergency lighting and amber lighting. Officials say amber lights are authorized for certain non-emergency vehicles. However, white lights are only used for emergency vehicles.

State police say it's also illegal to use auxiliary lighting that blinks, rotates or flashes.

Violators of the law can be fined up to $154.
