Police: Body Found In Trunk After Man Shoots, Kills Himself

Maine State Police are investigating the deaths of two people in Gardiner Thursday.

After getting a report Thursday afternoon of an erratic driver, state police started following the man.  "[The] trooper intercepted the car, which was on Route 201 in Gardiner, and it turned into this residential neighborhood. It was there that the trooper stopped the car and the man got out and shot himself," says state police spokesperson Steve McCausland.

McCausland says officers then found a body in the trunk of the vehicle. Both bodies are now at the state Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta.
