New donors step in to buy naming rights where Philadelphia's orchestra performs

STEVE INSKEEP, HOST:

Good morning, I'm Steve Inskeep. The Philadelphia Orchestra plays in Verizon Hall. Verizon paid for the naming rights, ironically, since concertgoers keep phones off. Now those rights have expired, and Richard Worley and his wife Lesley Anne Miller paid for them. They do not want the whole named for themselves, but for the great singer Marian Anderson.

(SOUNDBITE OF SONG, "CALFURNIA: THE TRUMPET IS CALLING "UN OMBRA DI PACE"")

MARIAN ANDERSON: (Singing) ...Must be marching before break of day.

INSKEEP: Wow. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
