Central Maine Medical Center is no longer at risk of losing federal funding for deficiencies in safety and quality.
CMMC officials announced in a press release Thursday that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services found the hospital in compliance after it undertook a plan of correction. Earlier this year, federal surveyors identified issues with patient care at CMMC, including one instance in which a patient in the emergency room with a spinal injury was paralyzed.
In a written statement, the chief quality officer at Central Maine Healthcare says the hospital has focused on improvements in patient evaluation, record-keeping and staff training.
