Unemployment in Maine's three major urban areas rose in January.
The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the jobless rates rose between a half a percent and 1% in Bangor, Lewiston-Auburn and Portland-South Portland.
But, in all three metro areas, the unemployment rate in January of this year was down a percentage point or more from Jan. 2021.
