Film Feature: Los Huesos & La Casa Lobo

Film Feature: Los Huesos & La Casa Lobo

Join Mayo Street Arts and the Chilean artistic duo, Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña, for a screening of their two films Los Huesos and La Casa Lobo, followed by a virtual Q & A with the artists.

Los Huesos (The Bones - 2021) is a fictitious account of the world’s first stop-motion animated film. Dated 1901 and excavated in 2021 as Chile drafts a new Constitution, the footage documents a ritual performed by a girl who appears to use human corpses. Emerging in the ritual are Diego Portales and Jaime Guzmán, central figures in the construction of authoritarian and oligarchic Chile. Runtime: 14 minutes.

La Casa Lobo (The Wolf House - 2018) is a stop-motion feature film that tells the story of Maria, a young woman who takes refuge in a house in southern Chile after escaping from a German colony. The production process of the film took place in a series of exhibitions in which artists Cristóbal León and Joaquín Cociña moved their studio to various exhibition spaces to show the public the development of the production, as a work in constant change. The film premiered at the 68th BERLINALE (Berlin International Film Festival), Runtime: 60 minutes.
