May Faire at Cumston Hall
MONMOUTH — The 38h annual May Faire, a community event sponsored by Friends of Cumston Public Library, will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at Cumston Hall, 796 Main St. Monmouth.
Featured will be home-grown perennials from local gardens and annuals from area greenhouses. Food will include lobster rolls, hamburgers and hot dogs. There will be activities for children, and several community groups and local artisans will have offerings, including a bake sale by the ladies from the United Church. Gently used books also will be sold.
The event will be held rain or shine, and all activities except the book sale will be outdoors. All proceeds support the Library’s programs. For more information, call LaVerne Winn at 207-933-4760
Meanwhile, the Friends are accepting donations of perennials plants for the event. Donated plants can be left at the Cumston Hall parking lot from Thursday, May 16 to Saturday, May 18. Plants should be labeled with the plant name and color of blossoms if applicable. Hostas, rhubarb, bleeding hearts, irises and herbs are strong sellers.
