PFAS: New Research and Impacts for Maine

PFAS: New Research and Impacts for Maine

This small course on PFAS, also known as "forever chemicals," is designed to shed light on these persistent substances found in everyday items like non-stick cookware and waterproof apparel. Through this course, learners will gain insight into the nature of PFAS, their widespread use, and the reasons behind their environmental and health concerns. These chemicals are notable for their longevity in the environment and potential accumulation in human bodies, posing various health risks. The course will cover recent findings on the effects of PFAS exposure and introduce innovative strategies being developed to purify our water and minimize its use. It offers an opportunity to understand the significance of PFAS issues and explore actions we can undertake to safeguard our health and the environment.
