Beginner workshops are perfect for you to grab your friends, grab a drink and come make tiny trees! We’re bringing the awesome art of bonsai out of the hedged in gardens and into the streets! Or at least into your favorite bars/breweries/pubs. Bonsai Bar is a night of fun you don’t want to miss. Learn the fundamental skills and techniques behind the art of bonsai while enjoying a night out with friends! Our teachers will introduce core concepts and guide your experience as you pot, prune, and design your very own bonsai tree! Our Guarantee: These tiny trees are so hardy we guarantee you can keep yours alive, or we’ll replace it.
This workshop will be hosted at Apres. At Après, we’re hellbent on offering craft beverage enthusiasts a unique way to enjoy what they love. Our passionately-made small batch drinks celebrate the traditional and progressive flavors of the Maine lifestyle and are served up in a space filled with friends — both already made and soon to be.
Our naturally calorie-light hard seltzer and gluten-free hard cider call out to the adventurous, inquisitive drinker who cares about fresh ingredients and sustainable living.
Come see us today for a drink at our bar or patio — or grab an ice-cold 4-pack to enjoy at home.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday through August, Maine Seacoast Mission welcomes the public to enjoy its new high- and low-ropes challenge course! Located at the Mission Downeast Campus at 6 Weald Bethel Lane in Cherryfield, the course will be open from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on August 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, and 27. This event is free and open to all ages.
For all ages, individuals and families can experience the course with the Mission's trained and experienced staff. Featuring high and low elements, the Mission’s outdoor course offers a combination of horizontal challenges and vertical challenges using wood beams, poles, ropes, and cables. The Mission’s challenge course serves the organization’s education and community engagement programs as well as service tour volunteers in the Mission’s Housing Improvement program.
“When an adult or child tries our challenge course, it is more than an opportunity to have fun in a safe environment” says Downeast Director Jenny Jones, “Participants also get to test their own perceived limits and work collaboratively with the folks who are also enjoying the course and staff who operate the course.”
Helmets, harnesses, and ropes are provided by the Mission as well as course-trained staff. Closed-toe shoes are required to participate. Crocs footwear is not allowed. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Please direct questions to Community Engagement Coordinator Kaysie Logan at klogan@seacoastmission.org or call (207) 546-4466.

The next talk in the Rockport Library’s program series in partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club - Maine Chapter will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 27, at 6 p.m. Larissa Holland will discuss how the youth-led nonprofit JustME for JustUS (JMJU) is empowering rural youth in Maine to take the lead on local projects that support strong, resilient communities.
From hosting town forums to engaging their neighbors in conversations about environment and community, Holland will spotlight inspiring young leaders who are rooted in place and committed to preserving the values and landscapes that define rural life.
Larissa Holland is an aviation sustainability professional, avid dancer, amateur backpacker, and JMJU's Development Advisor. She grew up in Maine's rural landscape and credits the Bold Coast for instilling in her a sense of responsibility to protect people and place. Holland was the first in her family to go to college and has since graduated from Smith College with a degree in both Environmental Science & Policy (ES&P) and Architecture. She resides in Bath, Maine.
Founded in 1876, the Appalachian Mountain Club is America’s oldest conservation and recreation organization. With more than 100,000 members, advocates, and supporters in the Northeast and beyond, the nonprofit AMC promotes the protection, enjoyment, and stewardship of the mountains, forests, waters, and trails of the Appalachian region.
