Growing Routes is a small, overnight summer camp in Midcoast Maine for girls ages 8–15 — a place where kids slow down, feel at home, and spend their days swimming in the lake, making art, cooking together, digging in the garden, exploring outdoors, playing games, learning new skills, and following their curiosity.

Our sessions are intentionally small (8–20 campers), creating space for a relaxed pace and a family-like atmosphere. With a flexible, child-driven schedule, kids have room to truly be themselves — and carry that confidence home.

Many parents come to us wondering:
Is camp right for my child? Is this worth the investment? Will they feel safe, seen, and supported?

We love those questions — and we’re always happy to talk them through. We believe choosing camp should feel thoughtful, not rushed.

Drop-in Mahjongg game (every week when enough players rsvp and library is open).
All levels of experience welcome (beginners given instruction).
We play Asian/Chinese style (easier to learn than American mahjong & no need to purchase annual card).
We have multiple sets of tiles, so can accommodate extra players.
RSVP: text/call [207-572-2414](tel:207-572-2414) to confirm group is meeting on any given date. Or take a chance and drop-in (same time as Library's boardgame event so other games can be played).

Join us at Owlbear's Rest to learn new games and make friends who ALSO love games!
Every other Wednesday: Weekly One-Shots with Kass! Join Owlbear staff member Kass to play a game that can be completed in one session.
Thursdays: The Teach Series! Owlbear staff member Drew will lead a variety of games so that you will know how to play them with friends in the future!

Opera Maine’s Studio Artist Program presents Bound, a moving and contemporary chamber opera by acclaimed composer Huang Ruo and librettist Bao-Long Chu. Inspired by real events, Bound tells the powerful story of Diane Tran, a Vietnamese-American high school student balancing the weight of her family’s expectations, cultural identity, and the harsh realities of the legal system.

Through Huang Ruo’s evocative score—blending Western and Eastern musical traditions—and Bao-Long Chu’s poignant text, Bound explores themes of belonging, duty, and the search for personal freedom.

This intimate production, conducted by Lance Inouye and directed by Richard Gammon, features the talented young artists of Opera Maine’s Studio Artist Program, offering audiences an unforgettable and thought-provoking theatrical experience.

Join us for Bound on Friday, June 26 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, June 28, 2026 at 2:30 PM​.

The Caverns of Thracia

Come and experience one of the classic early D&D adventure modules. Explore a branching, non-linear, reactive dungeon inhabited by multiple factions and loot their stuff ! Utilizing Basic D&D for simple character creation and a rules light approach.

Casual drop-in/drop-out play — come when you can!

Contradance for all ages and abilities, all dances taught, no partner needed.

"Off the Charts", a Portland-based jazz quartet, will be playing the last Sunday of each month through May 2025 at brunch at Lenny's Pub, Hawkes Plaza, 1274 Bridgton Road, Westbrook, ME. Brunch is from 10-2; music, 11 to 1:30.

“Off the Charts” is Kenny Gaspar, piano and trumpet; Rick Bernard, bass; Rusty Quinn, drums; and Mike Banas, guitar. While their influences include everything from Bebop to Blues to Chet Baker, their primary repertoire is drawn from that genre of music known as the “Great American Songbook” – the canon of significant early 20th century jazz standards and pop tunes (Ellington, Porter, Kern, Mercer, Arlen, et al.)
