Additionally, we will perform 3 choral pieces by Samuel Barber, 3 modern day madrigal by Emma Lou Diemer and Elaine Hagerberg’s “Alleluia”. This is a concert that is sure to please.

Silent Voices Remembered, a concert of Holocaust memorial trios presented by the Essex Piano Trio (Ashley Offret, violin / David Cabral, cello / Beverly Soll, piano).
Entitled Silent Voices Remembered, the concert of Holocaust memorial trios will explore the music of five composers dating from the 1940s to the present. Although the subject is dark, the music is gorgeous, and Essex Piano Trio believes audiences will be inspired by this remembrance, which, while portraying and mourning the atrocities of this genocide, also – as only art can – celebrates the courage and resilience of those who survived and expresses hope for the future of the Jewish people and others targeted by hatred and violence.
St. Cecilia Chamber Choir will present the Fauré Requiem on Saturday, May 4 at 3:00, and Sunday, May 5 at 3:00 p.m., at Damariscotta Baptist Church. The beloved Requiem was first performed in 1888, and has become a standard of the choral repertoire. Paired with the Requiem will be the exquisite Cantique de Jean Racine. Both of Fauré's works will be accompanied by Sean Fleming on organ and a professional chamber orchestra, with the featured soloists Jonathan Scott, baritone, and Marybeth McCaffrey, soprano. Advance tickets are strongly encouraged for the concerts.
Unlike many works composed in the late 19th century, Fauré left out the more fiery aspects of the Requiem Mass. Of his Requiem, Fauré wrote, "Altogether it is as gentle as I am myself."
Artistic director Linda Blanchard has selected a potpourri of music for the second half of the concert; including the comforting "Sing Gently" composed by Eric Whitacre in 2020, a setting of Emily Dickinson's poem "Hope is the thing with feathers" by Christopher Tin, and Elizabethan composer Thomas Weelkes' "Thule, the Period of Cosmography," based on an interesting text full of geographical place names. Several pieces based on sea subjects will be sung, including an arrangement of the chantey "High Barbary," "Full Fathom Five" by Charles Wood, and "The Mermaid." And be prepared for a surprise or two!
Tickets are $20 for adults, free for students. Purchase them at Sherman’s Maine Coast Book Shop in Damariscotta and online at ceciliachoir.org. For more information, please email info@ceciliachoir.org, visit facebook.com/stceciliachamberchoir and ceciliachoir.org, or call 207-548-3632.

Sacred Frequencies Sound BathsTransformational Ceremonies⬇ Scroll Down ⬇To RSVPFor Calendar of Events
Sound baths are vibrational healings with tones generated by crystal sound bowls that penetrate every part of your body, unblocked by material barriers. These sacred frequencies move freely throughout your body, to assist in releasing and tuning your body back to balance, allowing your physical and energetic bodies to naturally return to a state of harmony.During a sound bath, I implement crystal singing bowls in synchrony with guided meditation, reanchoring processes, a vintage Burmese gong, an Ocean Drum and vocal toning. The tones and songs for each event are conducted uniquely and specific to an individual or group.

Don't miss the chance to see this accomplished artist in an intimate, 50 seat venue! Ellis Paul doesn’t just write songs; he’s a guitar-carrying reporter who covers the human condition and details the hopes, loves, losses of those he observes, turning their stories into luminous pieces of music that get under your skin and into your bloodstream.Born and raised in Maine, Paul attended Boston College on a track scholarship and in the evenings became a fixture on the city’s open mic circuit. After winning a Boston Acoustic Underground songwriter competition, he caught the ear of folk luminary Bill Morrissey, who produced his indie album Say Something in 1993. This led to a seven- album contract with Rounder Records and the 1994 album, Stories. His songs have appeared in several blockbuster films (Me, Myself, and Irene; Shallow Hal, Hall Pass) and have been covered by award winning country artists (Sugarland, Kristian Bush, Jack Ingram). Through a steady succession of albums of his own – a remarkable 23 releases so far – and a constant touring presence around the world, Paul’s audience has grown into a loyal legion of fans. Along the way, he has picked up an impressive number of awards including the prestigious Kerrville New Folk Award, 15 Boston Music Awards, An Honorary Doctorate from the University of Maine, the 2019 International Acoustic Music Awards Artist of the Year and most recently his album, The Storyteller’s Suitcase, was named the 2019 NERFA Album of the Year.
His new album “55” touches on the necessity of gratitude in a difficult era of the pandemic and divided political stances on his own imprint, Rosella Records. www.ellispaul.com

The electric grid has failed, society has crumbled, and, to stave off the darkness, a group of survivors gathers around a fire and recreate their fallen world through the brave act of storytelling. Out of the darkness, they find connection and, with that, light as they piece together a new society from the memories of what’s been lost. A testament to human resilience and a love letter to live theater with music, spectacle and an unlikely hero (named Bart.) MR BURNS is a bold, touching, innovative dramatic experience that celebrates the human spirit and the necessity of telling stories in the dark.
