BANGOR, Maine - A Bangor grand jury has indicted a Bangor man charged with assaulting and blinding a pregnant woman.
The Penobscot County District Attorney's Office says the grand jury Wednesday indicted Joshua Cole of Bangor on felony charges including elevated aggravated assault on a pregnant person.
Authorities say the incident happened Aug. 18. Bangor police were dispatched to an Essex Street apartment that day in response to a report of a family fight.
Neighbors said at the time that they tried to stop Cole from assaulting the victim, but he fought them off. Police eventually subdued him.
The victim will need multiple surgeries, authorities say.
