Bath Salts Thrown From Car in Maine Police Chase

AUBURN, Maine - Police say a Maine man led state troopers on a chase in which he or a passenger in his vehicle threw bath salts out of his car before he fled into the woods.

Troopers pulled over Don Hanson of Aroostook County in the vicinity of Gray after a short chase on the Maine Turnpike. Police say Hanson fled the scene in his car while a trooper interviewed one of his passengers outside the vehicle. Police later found the car in Auburn driven by another passenger. The passenger told police Hanson fled into woods along Route 122 earlier.

Police also recovered what they believe to be bath salt thrown from the car during the chase. Police say they haven't determined if Hanson or one of his passengers threw the drugs.
