Man Who Defrauded Maine Town to be Sentenced in January

BANGOR, Maine - A Vermont man convicted of wire fraud for defrauding a Maine town is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 21, 2015.

Federal prosecutor Gail Malone says Craig Sanborn of Maidstone will be sentenced in federal court in Bangor that day. A judge convicted him in May of submitting $300,000 worth of false invoices to Brownville, Maine, for materials and services he never bought. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Documents say Judge John A. Woodcock Jr. will handle the case.

Sanborn was also convicted last year of two counts of negligent homicide and manslaughter in connection with a fatal explosion at a Colebrook, New Hampshire, gunpowder plant.
