Woman Charged With Stealing Wreaths From Cemetery

SACO, Maine - Police say a Maine woman has been charged with stealing Christmas wreaths from a cemetery - a crime that outraged many Mainers.

Police shared a hidden camera video showing someone in a black SUV who stole two wreaths from a headstone at Laurel Hill Cemetery in the town of Saco.

WCSH-TVreported that 56-year-old Pamela Golarz turned herself in Friday. Police charged her with theft, receiving stolen property and falsifying physical evidence, all misdemeanors.

The first wreath went missing on Dec. 4, and caretakers reported more thefts over the next few days. All told, several dozen wreaths disappeared.

Golarz posted $150 cash bail and will appear in court next month. There was no telephone listing for Golarz, and it was unknown if she'd hired a lawyer.
