PORTLAND, Maine - A Maine court is denying a motion from a Paris, Maine, police chief to overturn the suspension of his driver's license.
The Sun Journalreports Michael Madden's motion was denied on Monday during a hearing. His license will be suspended for 150 days starting Wednesday. Police charged Madden with operating under the influence on November.
The 50-year-old Madden, of Harrison, was pulled over in Naples shortly after midnight on Nov. 21. He will appear in court in Portland on Tuesday for a pre-trial conference. The conference will help determine if the parties can work out a deal before Madden's trial begins on May 11.
Madden's attorney argued on Monday that the proposed suspension should be lifted because it was delayed to the point where it was no longer effective.
