RICHMOND, Maine — Police and the Maine Warden Service are investigating after two cows were found fatally shot on a woman's property.
Daria Goggins told police she found the animals lying outside the open gate of her Richmond pasture around 3:30 p.m. Friday.
Goggins, who has owned the cows for about 10 years, says it appears that someone tried to herd the cows to the edge of the property line and shoot them there to make it look like a hunting accident.
Police say someone intentionally went to the residence with the intent to inflict harm to the cows. Each cow sustained one fatal wound.
Police are searching for the suspect or suspects involved. Goggins is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading up to an arrest.
