Maine CDC Warns Of Potential Measles Exposure Near Portland

FALMOUTH, Maine - The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention is warning residents of the southern part of the state about potential exposure to measles in late March. The Maine CDC says it was notified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health of a confirmed case of the disease in a Massachusetts resident who visited two businesses in Maine on March 27. The businesses were Skin Clinic in Falmouth and Maine Centers for Healthcare Endoscopy in Westbrook. The state says it has notified both facilities and is working with them to make sure people who were potentially exposed are aware. The Massachusetts resident visited the businesses, which are in the Portland area, in late morning and early afternoon.Measles is a contagious viral disease that can cause pneumonia, brain swelling and death.
