Maine Medical Center has joined two clinical trials to test how well the drug Remdesivir treats moderate and severe cases of COVID-19.
In a press release Tuesday, the hospital says three patients are enrolled so far in a study for severe cases. No patients are enrolled yet in a study for moderate cases.
Remdesivir is the subject of several clinical trials involving COVID-19. The antiviral drug was previously tested as a possible treatment for Ebola. It’s not yet licensed in the U.S.
