Man from Lewiston Sentenced for Injuring Infant Son

AUBURN, Maine (AP) _ A man from Lewiston has been sentenced to two years in prison for fracturing his two-month-old son's skull.

A judge in Androscoggin County Superior Court sentenced 24-year-old Allen-Michael St. Claire on Tuesday.

St. Claire had pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in April.

Authorities say he hit the boy's head against a door frame because he was fussy from a bout of pneumonia. He then told the baby's mother that a fan had fallen on the boy.

The Sun Journal reports that St. Claire apologized in court for his "heinous crime," and said he had a lot of "resentment and anger" at the time which he took out on his son.

The boy's mother says her son is now 16 months old and is not yet speaking.
