The legislature's Criminal Justice and Public Safety committee questioned Acting Corrections Commissioner Joseph Fitzpatrick about the hazing of new guards at Maine State Prison, and the ongoing investigation into that hazing. But Fitzpatrick said he could not comment specifically about the probe.
"My approach to something like that, although I can't comment on that particular situation as you seem to understand, I don't allow that to exist to the degree that I can, can go after it," Fitzpatrick said.
The Department of Corrections began investigating this year after some prison guards complained about hazing, which included handcuffing a guard to a door and threatening to pepper spray him.
