BANGOR, Maine - A federal judge has sentenced a Vermont man to 28 months in prison for his conviction of wire fraud for defrauding a Maine town.
Judge John A. Woodcock said Wednesday that Craig Sanborn of Maidstone will serve the sentence following a 10-to-20 year sentence he is serving for manslaughter in New Hampshire.
He was sentenced for submitting $300,000 worth of false invoices to Brownville, Maine, for materials and services he never bought. Sanborn faced up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The judge is denying Sanborn's request that the sentence run at the same time as his manslaughter sentence. He was convicted in 2013 of two counts of negligent homicide and manslaughter in connection with a fatal 2010 explosion at a Colebrook gunpowder plant.
