Harvard Faculty Member Named Bowdoin College President

BRUNSWICK, Maine — A faculty member at the Harvard Business School will become the new president of Maine's Bowdoin College.

The school announced Monday that Clayton Rose will succeed President Barry Mills, who is stepping down this summer after 14 years of leading the private liberal arts college in Brunswick. Rose will become the 221-year-old school's 15th president on July 1.

Rose joined the Harvard Business School in 2007, where he currently teaches and writes about leadership and managerial values. Prior to working in academics, Rose was the vice chairman and chief operating officer at J.P. Morgan.

The 56-year-old University of Chicago graduate is originally from California and currently lives in Brookline, Massachusetts.

Mills said in a statement that he's confident that Rose will "lead the college into a very bright future."
