PORTLAND, Maine — A former South Portland High School principal will be the new leader of the Portland school district for at least the next year.
The city's Board of Education voted Tuesday to hire Jeanne Crocker as its interim superintendent. She is currently the Portland district's director of school management. The Portland Press Herald reports Crocker will officially take over on Aug. 1.
Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk is leaving the district at the end of the month to take a new job as superintendent of schools in Lexington, Kentucky. Crocker will make $138,875, the same salary Caulk was making.
