GARDINER, Maine - Authorities say four people are unaccounted for following a fire that swept through four buildings in Gardiner, Maine.
Fire Marshal Joe Thomas told the Kennebec Journal that two missing people were believed to be tenants of the building where the fire apparently started Thursday and may have lived in apartments where the roof later collapsed.
Gardiner Mayor Thom Harnett called the fire a "community disaster.''
Officials say three firefighters were hurt by falling bricks on Thursday and a tenant was treated for smoke inhalation. The fire displaced a dozen residents.
The newspaper reported that Thomas asked that anyone who lived the buildings in the area of 235 Water St. to contact authorities so they can be accounted for.
